Governmental Affairs Committee 

Meets:  4:30 PM, 2nd Monday of every month, at the chamber.

Chair: Sharon Haxton, Community Outreach Coordinator, Chapman Partnership

Mission: To promote a coordinated effort with local, state and federal governments to address core issues of local significance for business development and retention

1- Election Forum
2- Miami-Dade Days
3- Legislative Agenda
4- Engage local, county and state government officials 


Economic Development
Meetings called as needed

Chair:  Mike Kiley, Florida Power & Light Company / Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant

Mission: To develop a strategic plan to create a sustainable, regional economy

1- Develop information package on both cities to attract new business
2- Focus on our industries - HARB, Agriculture, Turkey Point, Speedway, Tourism,  Education


Marketing Committee
Meetings called as needed

Chair,  Felecia Vescera, Director of Sales & Marketing, Florida City Centre DBA Brothers Property Corporation


Mission: To create a regional marketing plan that will highlight Cities of Homestead/Florida City and Chamber businesses

1- Helping the Chamber maximize its ability to communicate its message to the membership, community and governmental entities



Military Affairs Committee
Meets: 1st Thursday (Every Month) at 11:30AM - 1:00PM lunch - at HARB

Chair, Tony Fiore, Cruising Unlimited - Intelmar USA Inc.


Mission:  To enhance the quality of life for military personnel and their families in our community.



Operations Committee
Meetings called as needed.

Mission: To oversee administrative responsibilities of the Chamber.

Membership Committee
Meets: 4:00 PM, Last Tuesday of the month, at the Chamber 

George Mirabal, Relationship Manager, Clearent 

Mission: To welcome new and potential members, and to encourage members who are not participating or may be dropping.

1- Create a value added experience for current and new members



Special Events Committee
Meetings called as needed. 

Chair, Larry Roth, Keyes Company Realtors



Mission: To rise funds for the Chamber and to create and maintain a lively interaction among members 

1- Fundraisers
2- Coordinate with Staff and the Speakers & Programs Committee organizing Trustee   Events, Ribbon Cuttings and Special events as planned
3- Volunteer Coordination (Ambassadors, etc.)                                           



Speakers & Programs
Meetings called as needed

Chair: Charlie Hudson, Charlie Hudson Writes


Mission: Offer more engaging, interesting speakers on topics important to our community that educate and inform members 

1- Identifies speakers and themes for all Monthly Luncheons & Special Events
2- Coordinate with Chamber Staff and Special Events Committee choosing entertainment and event logistics.



Green Committee and Health and Wellness
Meetings called as needed

Chair – Debbie Brady, Executive Director, Dade County Farm Bureau 


Mission – To provide awareness, education and connections to green resources. To promote education of health and fitness issues to businesses, organizations, schools and the community.


1- Create awareness of green business practices and programs and their financial and environmental benefits.
2- Educate the business community about ECO sustainability through our website, newsletter, workshops and new business practices.
3- Provide tools and resources to its members to promote healthier lifestyles for all.

 

Education and Workforce Development
